Summary, in plain language
Bitdax Technologies Limited does not currently hold a licence or accreditation from the Communications Authority of Kenya, the Capital Markets Authority, or the Central Bank of Kenya.
Every service described on this website is at concept, prototype, sandbox or pilot stage. Nothing on this site is an offer of a regulated financial, payment or trust service, and no credential issued in our demonstration environment carries legal effect.
Where a service will require an approval, that approval is named below with its actual status. We will update this page as each application progresses, and we will not describe a service as licensed before a licence exists.

The Virtual Asset Service Providers Act 2025 establishes a licensing regime for virtual asset services in Kenya. Bitdax is preparing an application. No licence has been granted and virtual asset services are not offered to the public.

Central Bank of Kenya
Payment service provider authorisation / partnership with an authorised institution
Payment and settlement functions that move value for third parties are designed to route through an institution authorised by the Central Bank of Kenya. Bitdax does not hold a CBK authorisation and does not settle third-party funds on its own account.

Acceptance of Bitcoin as settlement for Bitdax's own invoices
Bitdax accepts Bitcoin as settlement for its own invoices and purchase orders. Receiving payment for goods and services Bitdax itself supplies is merchant activity, not a third-party virtual asset service, and does not require a licence under the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act 2025. Bitdax does not exchange, transfer or hold virtual assets on behalf of any third party. Kenya Digital Assets Tax is accounted for where it applies.
